Highlanders First Power Prep Hockey League Competition

The Highlanders finished up their first Power Prep Hockey League (PPHL) competition in Winchendon, MA with an overall record of 1-1-2. Playing against some of the top programs across North America and many NCAA D1 committed players, the Highlanders outshot their opponents in every game for an overall of 134-88 in four games.

Starting the weekend with a dominant 3-0 win over Ontario Hockey Academy, the Highlanders brought the undefeated Gilmour Academy to a shootout with a championship game bid on the line. The game finished 3-2 in the shootout for Gilmour, but this game showed everyone that we can challenge the top teams for a championship.

A 6-1 loss to a very talented Ironbound Elite team was a game that seemed to go in every direction but the Highlanders'. Outshooting Ironbound 41-26, the Highlanders had numerous chances but were unable to beat the Ironbound goalie.

The Highlanders finished their weekend play against College Bourget. Just as their matchup earlier in the season, this game also needed extra time and after seven rounds of shootouts, but the Volts from College Bourget came out on top.

Picking up points in three of four games leaves the Highlanders content but not satisfied. We head back down February 23-25 to Walpole, MA for the PPHL Championship weekend. We have proven that we can play, compete, and dominate at this level. Now it is time to find the scoring touch to be able to take home a championship banner in February.
