The Highlanders fell behind 2-0 early in the second but continued to get chances. Striking twice on the powerplay, the Highlanders evened the game going into the third period. Heavily outshooting their opponents 26-12 after two periods. The penalty kill came up big in the third, killing off 4 penalties in crucial minutes as the Volts peppered Sophie Thimot '24 with 22 shots.
The game needed overtime where Ali MacLean '27 had a great chance to end the game but the Volts were able to gather the rebound and send a stretch pass for an overtime winning breakaway goal.
