Girls Register First Win of Season in Final Game of Tournament

With only 25 minutes on the clock between our previous game and our final game of the tournament, the girls took a few moments to themselves and got rehydrated before lacing their shoes back up. Before the game, we talked about setting a goal of playing our best that game. Regardless of the score, we would put forth our best effort and finish the tournament strong. In the opening minutes of the game, it was clear that we would do just that as we ran out to an 8-0 lead to start the game. Our opponents from Middleton didn't give up, though, and pushed us right to the very end. Luckily for us, our shots were falling and our girls were aggressive on both sides of the ball and we were able to secure our first game of the season with all 11 girls playing lots.

While it seemed everyone played well in this game, a few standouts included Andrea Barba who registered her first two points of the season as well as Adeayo Kofoworade and Gabby Strickey who all made solid contributions from start to finish. The difference maker in this game, however, was definitely our point guard Lily Gale who slashed through the Middleton defense numerous times en route to a game-high 9 points.

The girls won't have too long to celebrate their victory as they are back in action on Monday at home vs the Gators from Central Kings.

Score: KES 36-MRHS 21

Player of the Game: Lily Gale
