In our last exhibtion game before we headed into league play, our girls game out on fire and quickly jumped to a 5 point lead at the end of the first quarter. The girls showed an aggressiveness and cohesiveness that seemed to be absent from their first two contests. Unfortunately we were unable to keep up that same effort in the second quarter and found ourselves down by 8 points at the half.
By the second half, it seemed as though our girls were beginning to show the effects of three games in five nights and West Kings stretched their lead to 16 points. In true KES fasion however, our girls battled back and gave us a chance to play for the win late in the game.
There were a number of standout performances on this night including rugby-star Lucy Killacky who scored 6 of her 12 points in the fourth quarter alone, as well as grade 10 Jill Miller who continued her strong play and chipped in 8 points. The standout on this night was first year KES student Kali McLellan who played excellent defense, showed poise and confidence, and finished the game with 9 points.
The girls now have over a week off before they play their first league game against the always tough Annapolis West Wolfpack.
