Fun and Friendship: Our Senior Buddies Program

One of the wonderful things about King’s-Edgehill School is our strong sense of community. It is one of the benefits of being small and having the opportunity for our youngest students to share the same campus with our seniors. But it goes beyond that; authentic friendships and meaningful relationships that transcend grade boundaries are a reality at KES. It is part of our community fiber to know and support each other. Such is the case with our Senior Buddies program. Grade 12 and Grade 11 students (59 in total) are buddied up early in the year with our Grades 6, 7, and 8 students. It is a voluntary program for the seniors, organized by the Executive Council Heads of the Junior School Committee, Sadie Junger ’24 and Misaki Takizawa ‘24, and one that brings much joy and reward for those involved.

This past Tuesday morning, at 8:00 am, the Senior Buddies gathered in the Athletic Centre. They waited in anticipation for the arrival of the juniors. What a great start to their day! There were no sleepy eyes or slow movers in the crowd. The juniors had a blast playing Scattergories, a timed game in which the student teams created lists of words that started with the same letter without repeating another team’s answers. It was a fun start to the morning, and they certainly were primed for their first-period classes! Here are the winning teams:

Third Place (28 words): Jessica Etou ’24, Tanvi Manchineni ’24, Ollie Boyle ’30, Harper MacInnis ’30, Victoria Siu-Porter ’29, Victoria Walsh ’30, Lidya Mercan ‘29
