A Simpler Time

King’s-Edgehill School is proud to introduce its fourth Senior School play production, A Simpler Time, which brings together a group of passionate and dedicated students from Grades 10-12.

A Simpler Time is a collection of short comedies that is presented to you through the wonderful world of time travel. In an hour and a half, you will follow the lives of teenagers Marley, Chris, and Taylor who are desperately looking for a break from their chaotic, modern lives. With the world’s problems weighing heavily on their shoulders, they prepare to use a time machine to find “a simpler time”. They jump from a common household in the medieval ages, to a busy switchboard in the 1940s, and they even find themselves caught up in the future! A Simpler Time is brought to you by enthusiastic and spirited students who are bursting with bright talent.

In preparation for their shows on April 12 and 13, we are excited to present three members of our gifted cast and crew in the weekly newsletter to give you a sneak peek of the incredible talent you can expect to see! We hope you will support them by attending our performances in the spring.

This is Sadie’s fourth and graduating year at King’s-Edgehill School. Sadie has appeared both on and off stage in six KES productions, most recently in Matilda ‘23. Behind the scenes, she is always enthusiastic to partake in set creation and never hesitates to lend a hand backstage. Additionally, Sadie enjoys partaking in Improv Club weekly, is a senior member of the debate team, and has led the marketing initiative for both this year’s and last year's plays. Sadie always enjoys finding creative ways to solve problems and keeps a positive morale when it’s showtime. You can see her onstage this April as Teddy, and she is also assisting backstage as a valuable member of the crew. Thank you, Sadie!

This is Kate’s second and final year at King’s-Edgehill School, and she is thrilled to be involved with her fifth KES production this spring. Kate is an Executive Council Head of both the Yearbook and Performing Arts Committees, an IB Visual Arts student, and a weekly participant in Improv Club. Her skill and talent in making set pieces and props will be greatly appreciated as we get closer to the show, and her diligence and teamwork make her a valuable member of the stage crew during performances. When asked what she enjoyed most about theatre, Kate said that she enjoys getting to step into the footprints of her role models, such as Maeve Hurley '23. Thank you, Kate!

Arianna is in Grade 12, and in her third year at King’s-Edgehill School. She has been backstage for four other productions here and stepped into the role of backstage manager this year. When not backstage, Arianna is a confident and creative participant in Improv Club and one of the Executive Council Heads of the Marketing Committee. Her favourite part of theatre is the supportive and welcoming environment. Arianna would recommend that others join the arts because they can express their creativity and make friends with people they might not have met otherwise. By participating in the arts, one also learns how to solve problems they might never have had otherwise. Thank you, Arianna!
