Track of Payne

The "Track of Payne" Project

Surrounding our new artifical turf sports field is an unfinished 400-metre, eight lane, crusher-dust running track. Our goal is to raise enough funds to properly honour Guy Payne’s 53 year legacy as a running coach here at KES and to make it an official IAAF certified rubber track by the Fall of 2020. Once complete (paved and rubberized), this outdoor sports complex will not only take local athletics programming to a new level but will also make this facility the first of its kind at the high school level in Nova Scotia!

We are seeking financial support in order to finish the track and grant thousands of athletes and community members the chance to exercise, compete, and recharge at this outdoor facility. By completing this facility, community members will be able to extend their outdoor pursuits year round.

We would like to thank our first corporate sponsor, Chartwell’s (of the Compass Group) who committed $1 million to our artificial turf project in 2018 and to our lead individual Donors, Leslie and David Clanachan (Current Parents) for their leadership gift of $100,000 to go towards completing the track. We are also pleased to announce that Leslie and David have been chosen as our Honorary Chairs for this exciting project!

Please consider supporting the "Track of Payne". Completing this project will benefit many youth  and small communities throughout western Nova Scotia. The benefits will be felt for generations to come!
