Today marked the official start of our 2021 season as the girls hosted Horton High in our first league game of the year. Because Horton’s numbers were a little low, rather than play one 15s game, we played three separate 7s games. We agreed to use the score of the first game as our official result and then played the other two as exhibition-type games. The girls all played well and the coaches and I were all very impressed with their efforts.
Game 1- KES 30- Horton 0
Trys: Gala Holm, Jill Griffith (3), Sarah Hardy, Hayden Lilly
In their second game of the week, our girls showed no signs of fatigue as they played well from the opening kickoff until the final blasts of the referee's whistle. As has been the case all season, the afternoon had an exciting start as our Grade 9/10 7s team showed speed and skill in the opening match of the day. In the 15s game that followed, our girls began with a strong defensive effort that eventually led to an attacking platform that we used to get on the board. Once the first try was scored, it seemed like our girls' confidence increased and they never looked back from there.
Grade 9/10 7s Final Score: KES 35 PVEC 5 Trys: Ava Shearer (4), Isa Guitierrez, Kat Lowe, Jessica Etou,
Grade 10-12 15s Final Score: KES 69 PVEC 10 Trys: Megan Mattie (3), Sarah Hardy (3), Hayden Lilly (2), Josie King, Caro Hererra, Abby Wamboldt
