A Busy November for Debaters

It was the perfect Sunday to invite students from our neighbouring schools to campus to engage in a day of friendly debate. The air was crisp, and the skies were clear as members of the 254 King’s-Edgehill School Highland Cadet Corps welcomed guests to Convocation Hall with an Honour Guard.

The event saw over 40 debaters from across Nova Scotia and New Brunswick engaged in four rounds of parliamentary debate discussing topics such as the impact of sports washing, the merit of virtual schools, and the responsibilities of mainstream media.

A big shout out to our KES contingent of debaters who represented our School with pride:

Maeve Hurley ’23, William Larder ’26, and Vincent Armstrong ’25 – fourth place (senior debate)
Adaoma Ukaegbu ’23 and Tyra Obadan ’23 – sixth place overall (senior debate)
Samantha Mayer ‘24 and Lucas Martin ’24 – seventh place overall (senior debate)
Mollybeth Dickinson ’26 and Isaac Angus ’26 – seventh place overall (junior debate)
Ezra Choo ’26 and Westin Endres ’26 – sixth place overall (junior debate)

November was a busy month for our debaters as they also represented KES at the Dalhousie Invitational Tournament:

Mollybeth Dickinson and William Larder – second place overall
Samantha Mayer and Lucas Martin – ninth place overall
Ezra Choo and Isaac Angus – tenth place overall
Congratulations to all and a big thank you to everyone who helped make the KES Invitational Debate Tournament a success!
