Athletes of the Week

Athletes of the Week (AOW) are selected based on athletic performance and sportsmanship. Positive sporting behaviour is valued at KES and integral to our athletic philosophy and School mission statement emphasizing gentleness, learning, dignity, and respect. These student athletes also reflect the seven principles of “true sport” which states: go for it, play fair, respect others, keep it fun, stay healthy, include everyone, and give back.

For the Week of November 14 – 20

Senior Girl – Jada MacKinnon ‘23 was consistent all weekend at the Rothesay Netherwood hockey tournament, stepping up and playing a big role on our squad this weekend. She bought in to what was best for the team and performed every single game at the highest level. Great work, Jada!

Senior Boy – Kaden Smith ‘25 scored an impressive five goals and three assists for eight points in only three games during the Monctonian hockey tournament in Moncton, New Brunswick. This was against some of the top teams in Atlantic Canada for U18 hockey. He finished the weekend tied in fourth place among top points out of the 24 teams to participate! Impressive job, Kaden!

Junior Boy – Jack Shearer ‘29, a Grade 6 player, was a dynamo for our Highlander development hockey team at the ACIS Armbrae Invitational Hockey Tournament. Our squad last week went 2-1-1 in the junior high school tournament. He led the team in scoring, keeping our great reputation alive at the event. Jack was one of the youngest players at the tournament; however, his competitiveness, skills and tenacity were noticed by all as he outworked most of his opponents. He has a bright future athletically and academically. Keep up the great work, Jack!

Junior Girl – Addison Smith ‘27 was an anchor on defence for our Highlander development hockey team at the ACIS Armbrae Invitational Hockey Tournament. She is a smooth skater and a very intelligent defender with great puck skills. Her calm demeanour along with her defence partner, Grace Roddis ‘27, kept the goals down for the opposition and led the team to two victories. Her dedication in working out before breakfast, with Shauna and other juniors, has certainly paid off. Keep up the great work, Addi!

Well done, Frances!
