Grade 8 Musical Performers
My Grade 8 music class performed a beautiful piece called Spiritual by the great duo of Pat Metheny and Charlie Haden. (Check out the original if you have the chance.) We recorded this on a beautiful morning last week with the sun pouring through the windows. Click here to listen to the performance.
Their second recording is Oye Como Va, made famous by Carlos Santana. It has some great moments where they really lock up. (You need some good speakers or headphones to really hear that great bass line). It also gets better as it goes on, so give it a chance. My autumn groups don’t always get the chance to perform, so, please take the opportunity to listen to them. This group consists of the following Grade 8 students:

Emma Walchhuetter '27 – percussion (drum set)
When I greeted these students on the first day of classes, almost all of them told me they did not play an instrument. Now they do, and they have a band; pretty cool! Thank you for supporting the arts and keeping the magic alive.
