Artists of the Week

Each week, deserving artists who contribute to the artistic life of our School are featured. This week at assembly, we were pleased to recognize the dedication and enthusiasm of the following students:

Roberto Abraham ‘25 has been very ambitious, working on his project in the mixed media class. After the class figured out that sustainability doesn’t simply refer to the environment, but also to social and economical issues, Roberto chose to work on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 1: No poverty. He focussed on the issue of unequal payment between people who work in the same job. To finish off, he gave an amazing presentation about it to the class, which underlined his knowledge and engagement with the topic – the class loved it! To recognize the efforts of the mixed media class, which has been focussed on transgender awareness, waste reduction, and men’s health – or discovering what is also considered to be part of sustainability – go to the second floor in the Senior School to see Roberto’s and his classmates’ work.

Sadie Junger ‘24 has been an excellent addition to our fine arts program. She has been a dedicated member of the Senior School musical; she supports the cast and crew with her diligent attention to detail. She can always be counted on to help and coordinate everyone both on and off stage. She was a fantastic quick changer and Ariel managed to transform from mermaid to human and back again several times without the audience even realizing Sadie was on the stage making the magic happen. In addition to her role in the musical, Sadie can also be counted on to volunteer with the debating program. She tallied all the results from our KES Invitational Debate Tournament this past weekend. Her expertise is invaluable!

Louis Tong ‘23 performed as Prince Eric in Disney’s The Little Mermaid, and it earned him tremendous acclaim. In his senior year, he decided to try out for the musical, and we all discovered a remarkable hidden talent. From his lovely singing voice to his dedication and commitment, Louis has excelled through his participation in the musical. He is conscientious and reliable and was a leader among his peers during rehearsals. We look forward to seeing Louis continue to sing and act throughout the school year.

Simon Beaudry ‘23 impressed the entire KES community with his break-out role of Chef Louis in Disney’s The Little Mermaid. From his acrobatic round-house kicks to his juggling skills, Simon has demonstrated that he has many hidden talents. Simon’s hard work and dedication to the role has been impressive. He spent many hours working on his singing and acting, and his hard work has paid off. Simon had already demonstrated that he is a strong scholar and athlete, and now he can add an accomplished artistic performer to his list of accomplishments! We know that he will continue to make many valuable contributions to the School throughout the remainder of the year.
