Behind-the-Scenes Spotlight – Nancy (Norman) Morash ‘79

For our second behind-the-scenes spotlight, where we bring attention and gratitude to some of the people who contribute to our community and enhance student experience without much fanfare, we focus on someone who gives new meaning to the concept of retail therapy, our School Store Manager, Nancy (Norman) Morash ‘79.

An old girl from the newly amalgamated King’s-Edgehill School (1976) and previously the Edgehill School for Girls and originally from Windsor, Nancy is now a proud Avondale resident where she lives with her husband Greg and dogs Carmen, Carlos, and Zephyr. Upon graduating from KES, Nancy trained as a nurse and worked at the Camp Hill Veteran’s Memorial Building in Halifax for 28 years. After retiring, Nancy spent much of her time with a passion of hers: looking after horses. Then, 12 years ago, Nancy was pleased to return to her alma mater to manage our school store, affectionately known as the tuck shop. Adjacent to the student lounge and en route to and from our dining hall, the tuck shop is more than a place to stock up on school supplies or uniform pieces. It is a hub for students to stop in, grab a pink mint, and have a quick chat before moving on to their next commitment. Nancy creates a space that is safe and welcoming where many students feel comfortable sharing their daily successes and challenges thanks to the same empathetic and supportive approach she would have used with her former residents at Camp Hill Veteran’s Memorial Building. Nancy’s lasting impact on our students is evident when recent grads return to campus to visit as the tuck shop is usually one of their first stops.

When asked what she enjoys most about being back at King’s-Edgehill, Nancy reflected on how, although many things have changed since her time at the School, what has remained is the sense of community, support, and camaraderie that leads to relationships that last for years.
Thanks for all you do for our community, Nancy!
