Go Highlander Baseball!

The Highlander bats came alive last night with a 10-7 win over the Acadian Axemen. Mitchel Brown ‘23 hit a two-run homer in the first inning and Aidan Myette '24 had the key hit in the final inning to secure the win with a two-run single.

Adam Crocker ‘23 pitched the final innings for the win. Grade 10 player Parker Simpkin ‘25 was solid behind the plate the whole game and appropriately recorded the final out with a difficult catch from a pop up in foul territory, one of the toughest plays in baseball. Another defensive highlight was a diving catch by Tyler Jenkins-Gaudet ‘25 in centre field at a key point in the sixth inning. It is often said that pitching and defence win games, which the Highlanders had Thursday night.

The Highlanders gave up five runs in one inning; however, they kept their composure against the older players to secure the win, even though a few important contributors were involved in Highlander hockey and baseball Atlantic Championships.

“We are excited for the next challenge,” said Coach Wamback. The team will travel to Connecticut Wednesday for some action versus state-side high school teams.
