Terry Fox Fundraising Frenzy!
This is the weekend of our annual Terry Fox Run and the creative efforts on campus to fundraise for cancer research have been impressive. From selling pizza to popsicles, cupcakes to car washes, the enthusiasm on campus is high and our 2022 contributions to cancer research are growing exponentially. A spirit of fun and friendship is pervasive, and our student leadership is first-rate.
On Wednesday evening, our Highlander girls basketball team hosted a “shoot-a-thon” in our School gym. Their idea was to score a total of 3339 points, the same number of miles that Terry Fox ran before he had to end his Marathon of Hope. Well, the team had no problem hitting (and exceeding) their target with 4756 collective points scored and over $200 raised for the cause! A few of our youngest Grade 6 students – Owen Donaldson ‘29, Lydia DesRoches ‘29 and Hilary Shaw ‘29 – led the scoring with hundreds of points each and tremendous School spirit. There was lots of cheering, laughter, music and fun with mini competitions and prizes to make the event memorable. It was such a hit that the girls promise to make this an annual event. -

But, there is still more. Our Highlander swim team is ready to log laps for cancer research as they embark on the 2nd Annual Terry Fox Swim Marathon tomorrow in our pool, promising to swim 42 kilometres – the equivalent of a marathon! With almost $600 raised before the event begins, it is sure to be another huge success. If you are in the Windsor area, drop by our pool and cheer the team on.
