Athletes of the Week

“Athletes of the Week” (AOW) are selected based on athletic performance and sportsmanship. Positive sporting behaviour is valued at KES and integral to our athletic philosophy and School mission statement emphasizing gentleness and learning and dignity and respect. These student athletes also reflect the seven principles of “true sport”.

For the Week of April 26 – May 1
Junior Boy: Kofi Symmonds ‘25 demonstrates athleticism, a willingness to learn and strong leadership skills on the diamond. He has developed into a strong first baseman and is learning to lead the infield by directing plays and utilizing his strong communication skills. Kofi has shown himself to be a leader of the junior boys on the team, setting a great example to others, and developing the strengths of his teammates. Keep up the great work, Kofi!

Junior Girl: Sierra Phillips ‘25 was a force on the pitch this week in our game against Avon View High School. She had several long runs in the game, but her biggest impact came on the defensive side of the ball as she made tackle after tackle, stifling any would-be attack our opponents from Avon View tried to mount. With only a handful of games under her belt, it is very clear that Sierra is going to be one to watch on the rugby pitch for years to come. Well done, Sierra!

Senior Girl: Dakota Bagshaw ‘22 has demonstrated that she is a key member of our softball team, stepping up to the plate, both physically and metaphorically. She willingly took on the challenge of training to be the team pitcher despite never having pitched before. She has trained very hard, taken every piece of advice, and acted on it. She has remained positive even when throwing a few rogue pitches; she has shrugged and determinedly thrown the next pitch. Her growth has been incredible, and she has the potential to be a great pitcher. Dakota is a natural leader and is looked up to by the rest of the team. She ensures each player knows their roles and motivates each one, even organizing extra practices for the team after a double header! We are very lucky to have Dakota on our softball team. Well done, Dakota!

Senior Boy: Lloyd Fromson ‘23 led our senior boys rugby squad in their game against Park View last week. His aggressive play was characterized by tough, technical tackles and hard running against a very physical opposition. He helped pressure Park View into making mistakes, which the team capitalized on when Lloyd pounded in a try through a tight defense. We're looking forward to seeing more from Lloyd as the season progresses. Well done, Lloyd!
