This week we are highlighting Emily Mei ‘24 and Allie Pape ‘23:

Emily lives in New Minas, Nova Scotia. She has attended KES since she was in Grade 6 and is currently in Grade 10. She is on the dance team, sang at last year’s Grade 9 graduation, and has performed in several other KES musicals, most recently Frozen Jr. and Heathers. Emily recommends that everyone try theatre because it is a lot of fun, and you get to become another person onstage. She has chosen to act in Clue: on Stage (High School Edition) because she has had so much fun in previous productions, and she enjoys the process of watching a play come together. Emily hopes you enjoy the twists and turns as you try to solve the mystery.

Allie is from Seattle, Washington. Her first year at KES was Grade 9, and now she is in Grade 11. She has a significant history in dance, is currently in HL IB theatre, and plans for a future in dance. As part of this history, Allie has choreographed several major numbers for various musicals, including Frozen, Jr. and Heathers. The arts, particularly performing arts, have helped Allie become more comfortable in herself — she mentioned that before pursuing arts, she was so shy that teachers thought she may have been deaf or hard of hearing. Since she got her start with the arts, she hasn’t stopped! Even in a global pandemic, Allie continues to dance in the comfort and safety of her home and participates in what arts opportunities are left. When asked what she was most looking forward to in Clue: on Stage (High School Edition), she replied that embodying a character is one of her favourite parts of any production, and she predicted that Yvette the French maid would be one of her best yet. Bonne chance, Allie!
