Prep Baseball Trip to US

On Tuesday, our boys played Berkshire Academy in Sheffield, Massachusetts, and the bats were on fire as Eric Fields ’22 shut the door early, striking out seven in three innings. Kaelan Bakker ‘23 came out of a mini slump going four for five that game as the Highlanders destroyed Berkshire 19 to six. On Wednesday, the squad was scheduled to play Vermont Academy, but the game was cancelled due to weather and because some of the Vermont players were suspended. We still enjoyed a great indoor workout. Yesterday, we were scheduled to play Hoosac School but, unfortunately, the rain continued, cancelling our game. That said, we made the most of the opportunity where our boys took in an admin presentation, toured, and spent time with the baseball coach at Nichols College.

The tour and experience were so great that we are playing a nine-inning game against their JV squad today. It was awesome for our players to see what Nichols College has to offer and see the life of a college baseball player firsthand. Today will be a great opportunity for our players to showcase their skills in front of the Nichols coach. Prior to today’s game, the player’s will be doing on-field batting practice at Springfield College with Coach Simeone present, eat in their dining hall and head to Nichols. We close out our trip against Phillips Exeter tomorrow, arriving home Sunday afternoon.
