Clue on Stage (High School Edition)
We are very proud to present Clue on Stage (High School Edition) as this year’s Senior School play production. From acting to backstage crew, we will be highlighting and introducing some of the students involved in our show as the weeks unfold. Our students will share their thoughts about the play, their experience with the performing arts, and the importance of arts in their everyday lives. We hope you will support this dedicated team of staff and students by attending this fun production in our Fountain Performing Arts Centre.
The show dates and times are:
April 21 at 7:00 pm
April 22 at 7:00 pm
April 23 at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm
Tickets will be sold at the door at $10 for general admission and $5 for students and seniors.
This week we are highlighting Sean Hurley ‘23 and Emma Toope ‘24:
Sean is from Houston, Texas, and is currently in Grade 11. This is his third full year at KES. When asked why he chose to perform in the Senior School play, Sean said that he joined because he “likes the performing arts, and plays are really fun and enjoyable.” He first got into theatre in Grade 8 where he made lots of friends in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and has since participated in The Elephant Man, Almost, Maine and Heathers. His favourite part of theatre is putting on a character and performing for an audience. Sean is looking forward to seeing how people react to the twists in Clue on Stage. He recommends that people join the arts if they want to because they will become better at presenting and speaking in front of others, and they can gain creative problem-solving skills.
Emma is from Halifax, Nova Scotia. This year (Grade 10) is her first year at King’s-Edgehill. She decided to participate in Clue on Stage because she has more experience with musicals than plays and wanted to expand her horizons. For her, the arts have been an escape during the pandemic, providing her with a creative outlet even when everything was shut down. Emma has been involved in theatre and music since before she could walk and saw her first musical (Les Misérables) at the age of seven. She has also been involved in Neptune Theatre’s Youth Performance Company Boot Camp and has done several more performances with Neptune. She has just been cast as Jo in their upcoming production of Little Women. Emma believes that everyone should try the arts because you learn teamwork and gain confidence. She is looking forward to tech days because, although they can be very long, the entire cast is together. Good luck onstage, Emma!
