Taylor, Conrad "Tip"

Tip died peacefully on March 5, 2022 at home, supported by his family. We are grateful to have shared one last “Good Bye Day” with him, where he gave us all the chance express our love and thanks. He knew we were all there. Tip was born on March 20, 1930 in Windsor. He was one of five children born to Colin and Florence (King) Taylor. After his early schooling in Windsor, Tip graduated from Acadia University (1949) and TUNS (1951) with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked as an engineer in Montreal, where he met and married Lois (Stickney). They moved their family back to Windsor in 1964 to work with his brother Dick, managing the family business, Avonian Motors. Tip was dedicated to many community organizations and activities including: the Windsor United Church, where he sang in the choir up until last spring; The Windsor Curling Club; the Gyro Club; and most notably the planning and development of the Avon Valley Golf Course, where his dedication and attention to detail will continue to be appreciated by the extended community for years to come. His life was framed by music, from his early days of singing in a barbershop quartet in Montreal to the bands he sang and played banjo with in Windsor, including Punch, The Centennial Dixieland Jazz Band and the Big Valley Swing Orchestra. Tip was the first to admit that his wife Lois was the key to his stable and happy life, often referring to her as “his quarterback”. Although he remained strong since her passing last year, it was clear that he missed her dearly. His greatest sorrow was the loss of his youngest daughter Susan in 2009. After we lost Suzie, he became very deliberate about expressing his love to his family. Lucky us! Tip was predeceased by his wife, Lois (Stickney); parents, Colin and Florence (King) Taylor; brother, Ronald; brother, Richard “Dick” and daughter, Susan Lois Taylor. He is survived by his sisters, Annabelle Taylor and Florence Erskine; sister-in-law, Ruth (Creighton) Taylor; many nieces and nephews; daughters, Janet Gagnier (Lonnie) and Nancy Delahunt (David). Grampie was so proud of the legacy he leaves behind in his grandchildren: Mark (Tara), David (Eunnie), John (Leah), Michael and Sarah (Kyle) Gagnier and Jane and Kevin Delahunt. As he often said: “not a bad one in the bunch”. Sincere thanks and appreciation are extended to our dear caregivers. The support of Patsy MacDonald and her husband Claude, along with Heather Young and Kate Downey, allowed this last chapter of Dad's journey to unfold at home. A true blessing. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be no visitation. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 9 at 10 am at Windsor United Church, 613 King St., Windsor, Rev. David Hann officiating. Due to COVID-19 gathering limits, please call the funeral home to register your attendance (booking in groups would be best). Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor.
