Athletes of the Week

Athletes of the Week (AOW) are selected based on athletic performance and sportsmanship. Positive sporting behaviour is valued at KES and integral to our athletic philosophy and School mission statement emphasizing gentleness and learning and dignity and respect.

Senior male – Greg Otto ‘22: Although our wrestlers have not had an opportunity to compete recently, Greg has lived up to the very high captaincy standards we have set in our programme. He has taken every opportunity to help make his teammates better, either by leading with an excellent example or by helping to coach the team. We are sure the team is well-prepared for our upcoming provincial tournament, thanks in large part to Greg's efforts. Excellent work, Greg!

Senior female – Abby McCarthy ’22, our captain, led our girls prep team to another undefeated NAPHA weekend with her determination and continued unselfish play. With our team missing several players, Abby literally played every position but goalie (and would have played it if asked!) during the weekend. The example that she sets for our team each day has helped lead our team to the top of the NAPHA league final standings.

Junior female – Sierra Phillips ‘25 has been the cornerstone of the junior girls basketball team with her post play and leadership. She is also turning heads as a member of the senior girls rugby team. She has a bright future on the pitch, as she has the skills and the energy to succeed.

Junior male – Kaden Smith ‘25 is one of the youngest players on our prep hockey team. On a recent trip to PEI, he was key on several of the team’s goals. He plays the power play and maintains an excellent average in school. His skills and intelligence on the ice are mature well beyond his age as a Grade 9 student.
