Happy Debate News!

Congratulations to our KES Junior A debate team of Vincent Armstrong ’25 and Will Larder ‘26 who had a very strong showing at Saturday's Nova Scotia Junior Provincial Debate Champions hosted (virtually) by Halifax Grammar School.

After an intense four rounds, two of which were on the prepared topic of “This house regrets the narrative of happy endings in children's literature”, Vincent and William advanced through two more impromptu rounds, taking on topics with 20 minutes notice on space exploration and home schooling to finish in third place, narrowly missing the final round by a one-point difference off the Sacred Heart second place team.

Appropriately, this is a debating bronze medal. Individually, Vincent placed third (out of the 20 junior speakers) and William placed seventh. These are both outstanding results!

Our KES boys now advance to represent Nova Scotia at the Junior National Debates hosted in Alberta (virtually) in April.

Congratulations, boys!
