McCaffrey, Frances "Frankie"

Frankie passed away on February 5, 2022.
Frankie, a resident of Courtenay BC, passed away peacefully in the North Island Hospital in the Comox Valley on February 5th, 2022, after a short illness. Frankie was born on November 10th, 1936 in Bridgewater, NS to Myrtice and Leaman Hirtle and spent her early years in Mahone Bay, NS.

She met her sweetheart, Jim McCaffery, who was in the Royal Canadian Navy at CFB Shearwater in Nova Scotia. Frankie and Jim were married in 1956 and in 1979 they moved to their utopia in the Comox Valley where they spent the last 41 years.

Frankie loved the ocean. She loved the salt air and seagulls, she loved elephants and music. She loved tall rum and cokes in a beer glass. She loved to laugh, and she made the best campers stew.
She enjoyed bowling, ceramics, painting. She had a passion for golf, with four holes in one. Her favorite movie was ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’. Frankie was proud of who she was and where she came from.
She was ahead of her time in many ways, progressive and supporter of women’s liberation in the sixties. These things and many more memories will bring joy and comfort to her family forever.

Frankie is survived by her husband Jim, daughter Jill (Jack), son Bruce (Deepa), son Dane (Shelley), her grandchildren Tanya, Ferra, Thea, Megan, Hillary, Tracey, Marshall, plus her six great grandchildren.
Predeceased by her grandson Jason.

Private family arrangements have taken place. A Celebration of Life may be organized at a future date.
