Girls Hockey NAPHA Showcase

Our girls prep hockey team travelled to Windsor, Ontario to compete in their latest NAPHA League showcase.  Unlike our Ontario-based opponents who have been playing regularly in the United States, these were our first games of 2022 due to Omicron. Despite this lengthy break, the girls’ enthusiasm, and excitement to be competing again carried the day, and we finished with the best record for the weekend with three wins and one loss.

We opened play with a 2-0 victory over the host A21 Sports Academy on Thursday. On Saturday, we defeated the Hockey Training Institute Stars from Barrie, Ontario by a 5-1 score and lost 3-1 to A21. We finished our weekend with a 4-3 victory over Hockey Training Institute on Saturday.

Highlights included excellent play from senior goalie Sophie Thomas ‘22 who only allowed one goal in two games, the first career KES hat trick for Carrington George ‘23, and the unfailingly remarkable leadership of our captains who will the team to victory at times.

Our team is now 15-4 over our last 19 games and very excitedly, King’s-Edgehill School holds down first place in the NAPHA League standings for the first time in our history with this league.
