Junior School February Update

Although we’ve been planning for a Junior School transition since the school year began, the time is now at hand for a change. Mr. Pat LePoidevin and his wife Aly are expecting their first baby any day now, and there is much anticipated excitement on campus as we get ready to welcome a new baby to our KES family. I know the entire School joins our Junior School students and staff in sending best wishes for a joyful parenting journey to the LePoidevins in the memorable first months and years ahead.

Mr. LePoidevin’s Social Studies 6 and 7 and English 8 and 9 classes certainly will be missing him and his upbeat and creative lessons as he begins his parental leave for the remainder of this year. The transition will be smooth as his replacement, Mrs. Magda Montgomery ‘92, is well-known to our community and an excellent teacher herself. Mrs. Montgomery earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Dalhousie University and a Bachelor of Education degree from Acadia University where she completed her practicum with none other than Mr. LePoidevin in 2019. Her passion for working with children was evident from the start as she fully immersed herself in our KES lifestyle, including teaching, coaching and chaperoning overnight trips. Her natural fit and affinity for our way of life is not surprising, as she lived the KES experience and excelled as a prefect, honours student and varsity soccer player in her high school years. It was a pleasure to welcome her back in 2019 and as a substitute teacher since, as I have such fond memories of Magda as a student in my early career days! It was great to have Mrs. Montgomery back in the classroom this week. We are in good hands, and I know everyone will join me in extending the warmest of KES welcomes!
