Robidoux, Douglas

Douglas passed away on October 9, 2021.
With love and appreciation of a life well lived, we wish to announce the peaceful passing of Douglas Emery Robidoux, on October 9th, at the age of 77, after a brief battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Francis and Margaret (Gillespie) Robidoux.

Doug was blessed to have had two great loves of his life. He leaves behind to celebrate his life his devoted partner Patsy (Boudreau). He was predeceased by his loving wife Anida (Boudreau) in 2006 and is survived by their two children; son Francis Robidoux (Mary-Kate) of Boston; daughter Renée Robidoux Ferron (Darcy) of Ottawa and grandchildren Estelle and Cohen. In addition to his parents, Doug was predeceased by his brother Edmund (Ted) Robidoux of New Orleans and survived by his sister-in-law Teresita Robidoux and nieces and nephews Marta Robidoux Marko (William) of Houston; Cynthia Robidoux of New Orleans; Douglas Robidoux (Leslie) of Orange County; and Neil Robidoux (Veronica) of Pheonix.
In1957, Doug attended King’s Edgehill School in Windsor, Nova Scotia. After which, he pursued his studies in refrigeration at the New Brunswick Community College in St. Andrews. Soon after, he started working at Maritime Beverages Ltd. which ultimately became Pepsi Cola Canada where he was the head shipper and receiver.

Doug was very handy and lovingly became the fixer of everything. Creative, resourceful, and clever, he always had a project on the go and he would more often than not be found tinkering in his garage. An avid collector, and a true child at heart, he had a fondness for model trains and collectible cars. He particularly had an appreciation for antique cars and cherished his 1962 Chevy SS. Over the years, he was a member of several car clubs including the East Coast Speed and Custom Club and the Moncton Speed and Custom Club enjoying the camaraderie of his fellow car lovers.

Doug had an especially soft spot for animals and loved when his “grand dogs” would come to visit. He has no doubt been reunited with his dogs Bonhomme, Jen-Jin and Precious.
Always quick to lend a hand or his ear, he had a great sense of humour, was quick witted and loved to talk with people. He looked forward to his morning and evening social outings to Tim Horton’s to converse with his “crew”. He will be deeply missed.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Moncton Hospital and the local Extra Mural team for all their help and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made in Doug’s name to the Greater Moncton SPCA or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Due to current Covid restrictions, the burial will be private and the family will host a celebration of life next summer.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fair Haven Funeral Home, 1177 Salisbury Road, Moncton (506) 852-3530.
