Grade 9 Painting and Photography Art

I have included a few of our recent Grade 9 paintings and photography projects. The acrylic painting project was inspired by the artist Georgia O’Keefe, and this assignment gave the students an opportunity to investigate colour, texture and a close-up composition.

The photography project was influenced by the artist David Hockney. The students chose two of their own photographs and then manipulated the images by making connections, slicing the photos and changing the composition. This Grade 9 art class is an extremely able and enthusiastic group that takes a keen interest in art and really enjoys the work. Throughout the term, students document and reflect on each of their assignments and projects in their sketchbook.

After the Christmas break, our Grade 8, 9 and 10 students in our visual arts programme start a new fine arts component of study in January. They will be missed.

I hope you enjoy the artwork from our very talented students.
