Our Improving Swimmers

Seven KES swimmers went to the Acadia University pool on November 21 and 22 to compete against 12 other teams from Yarmouth to Sydney. Lillian Blois ‘27 had the best meet possible as she raced five times and earned five personal bests. Lillian had a particularly fast 100-metre breaststroke race when she improved by a whopping 12 seconds. Rowan Francis ‘27 had a fantastic two days of swimming as he improved in four of his five races. Rowan lopped off a gigantic 16 seconds in his 200-metre freestyle event, which propelled him to the highest level of Nova Scotia swimming: AAA. Westin Endres ‘26 smashed the 30-second barrier for the first time in his 50-metre freestyle. Westin improved in four of his five events, just missing a best time in his 200-metre breaststroke by two-tenths of a second. Sebastian Feng ‘23 had the best meet earning personal best times in all three of his events. Sebastian had a particularly fast 50-metre freestyle, and I’m sure he is looking to drop under 30 seconds in his next race. Swimming to a personal best in half of his events was Stanislav Matkovskyi ‘22. Stanislav chopped off four big seconds in his 100-metre freestyle. Ryan MacDougall ‘27 came within just tenths of a second of three personal best times but was able to lower his 100-metre breaststroke time by well over a second.

The next meet for our AA/AAA swimmers will be at the Candy Cane Meet in Truro from December 10-12. This will be our first big meet of the season with heats and finals. We can’t wait!
