Grade 10 Paintings

For the past month, our Grade 10 visual arts class has been working on a painting project which was inspired by the post-impressionist movement. The students had the opportunity to investigate colour, texture and underpainting. Underpainting is used to create a mood on the canvas before you start the actual painting. You can add texture to the underpainting by using a palette knife, large brushes, sponges, or anything that will add texture. The class was brave this year, and most students chose to work on larger stretched canvases. Throughout the term, students document and reflect on each of their assignments and projects in their sketchbook.

Some of the paintings are now on display in front of the Fountain Performing Arts Centre, and they will be rotated throughout the next week.
Enjoy!
