Nova Tech Swimmers Make a Splash

Sunday, November 7th was the first away meet for our Nova Tech level competitive swimmers. Seven swimmers traveled to Acadia to attend a meet hosted by Wolfville Tritons club. This was the first meet held for this level of swimmer since February 2020, so a new experience for most of them.
This series of events is set in three categories and requires set times to be achieved to move through those categories. The set times are challenges for all in this program & it is exciting when the times are reached.
All of our swimmers relied on their hard training and performed their very best with personal best times and leveling up!

William Day '25 who has only been with us for a couple of months bounced in and out of the Nova Tech program in this one meet, achieving the goal times with much room to spare and gaining three first places & a third place over his four swims! Quite an achievement for a new swimmer!
Lillian Blois '27also showed excellent form with her 200m. Freestyle taking first place in that and executing turns in fine form - something she has been struggling with but had it down nicely on Sunday. Lillian achieved 1 gold and 2 silver places in her swims.
Renata Nieto '26 surprised the coaches with her 50m butterfly and took gold in that race, and qualifying to level 2 in her 100m Individual Medley. Renata managed a complete set of ‘medals’ taking gold, silver & bronze position in her events.
Hannah Stilwell '23 swam in a fine form showing she was ready to move to greater things by qualifying from the Nova Tech program to the more advanced Age Group program. Hannah took a gold & bronze position in her events and left the building smiling!
Sarah Hatfield '22 showed her skill also by qualifying into the AG program and managing a silver & bronze position in her swims
Maran Hawley '26, and Mollybeth Dickinson '26 both felt the occasion stressing them but managed to let their adrenaline show the way and performed so very well to impress the coaches. Both girls struggle with the butterfly event, but at this meet, they showed that they can manage to do this most difficult stroke.
From this meet William, Lillian, Sarah & Hannah move on to the more challenging Age Group program with the next meet for them on the 20 & 21st November which will also be held at Acadia. Renata, Maran & Mollybeth will go to level 2 of the Nova Tech program to continue their journey through that program. Good luck to all of them & splendid swims too!
