Highlanders win 3:0 at Home Opener

The D1 Soccer Boys played their first league game this afternoon facing the Vikings of Yarmouth High.
 
Highlanders come out on top with a 3:0 victory.
The D1 Soccer Boys played their first league game this afternoon facing the Vikings of Yarmouth High.
 
Here is a brief wrap-up of the 3:0 victory for our Highlanders.
 
In the 25th minute Raul Cortez (’24) drove into the box and was tripped and rewarded a penalty. Captain Emiliano Bonilla (’22) stepped up and drove it home for a 1-0 lead.
 
Raul Cortez (’24) broke through in the 38th minute and played a beautiful soft touch pass into Vincent Armstrong’s (’25) foot who finished with a bottom corner goal.
 
Highlanders lead 2-0 at the half.
 
In the 75th minute, Vincent Armstrong’s (’25) crossed to Diego Collins Zapata (’22) who was at the top of the box to secure the victory with a sting finish, 3-0 Highlanders.
 
The squad played high-level soccer today, being the dominating team from beginning to end.
 
Player of the game:  Vincent Armstrong (Grade 9), one goal & one assist and an overall great performance.
