Burgess, William "Bill" Barry

Bill passed away on May 27, 2021.
It is with much sadness that the family of William (Bill) Barry Burgess announces his passing, following a brief illness in QEII hospital on Wednesday May 26th at the age of 82. Gracious thanks to the staff who made it possible for family members to be at his bedside during this time. Bill grew up as a “Valley Boy” in Berwick and attended King’s-edgehill boarding school in Windsor, then King’s College in Halifax. He began his working life as an accountant then later trained as a pharmacist, he worked for many years in pharmacies around the Bedford area. After retiring Bill spent a great deal of time working on our family genealogy and pursuing his computer hobby reflective of his strong interests in technology and “gadgets”. He had a deep interest in history and shared many musings on its influence in today’s world. He made numerous trips every year to join his daughter and her family in Massachusetts and always looked forward to his annual trips to Florida where he enjoyed warm sun during the winter months. Bill will be most lovingly remembered by his wife, Isabelle (Hutchinson) Burgess; his daughter, Johanna BurgessEverett, Massachusetts, USA; and sister Irene Brown, Halifax. “Papa” will be forever held in the hearts of his grandchildren, Rachel Everett, Pembroke, ON, and Colin Everett, Sydney, Australia. Bill will also be fondly remembered by Isabelle’s children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Boyd and Erminie Burgess; his first wife, Marjorie (Lively) Burgess and his brother, Donald Burgess. He will be greatly missed. Donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation and to the Birch Cove Baptist Church Memorial Fund. A date to celebrate Bill’s life will be made following the lifting of current Covid restrictions. Words of comfort may be sent to the family by visiting: www.maritimecremation.ca
