Cooking with our Amazing KES Alumni Chefs, Dev and Adam

As many of you know, we haven’t been able to host many in-person events since the arrival of COVID-19.  So, since we were missing seeing our Friends, Alumni, Alumni Parents, and Grandparents of KES, we started hosting virtual events.  We started with a couple of trivia nights and then on the eve of Remembrance Day, we hosted a “Night of Remembrance” featuring Alumnus, Jared Smith ’08, and our Cadet Commanding Officer, Major Keith Hynes

On Wednesday, December 9th, we decided to try something completely different.  We approached Dev Rajkumar ’02 and Adam Ullock ’03 and asked if they might be willing to host a night of culinary delight.  Their brainchild was to offer instruction on how to create four diverse and scrumptious holiday side dishes.
Chef Dev (www.chefdev.ca) started the show, and it was immediately obvious this guy is a virtuoso in the kitchen.  Live from Toronto, Dev kept us entertained and busy, while we salivated over his creations of Festive Smashed Potato Salad and Mango and Ginger Jalapeno Cranberry Sauce.  Dev also found time to issue a tribute to his former Rugby Coach, Roger Marino, (Staff 1998-2002) who joined us from Summerland, BC!
From Chef Dev, we moved to Chef Adam (www.facebook.com/CookWithAdam) who practises his culinary prowess in Bedford, NS. Adam had a special guest in his kitchen, our Director of Admissions, Chris Strickey.  Chris was Adam’s KES Hockey Coach. And, after graduation, Adam returned to KES to houseparent and coach hockey with Chris.  It was delightful to watch the banter and good-natured teasing between these two!  Adam outdid himself with his choices of Cajun Roasted Brussel Sprouts with Candied Maple Bacon and Garlic and Parmesan Roasted Cauliflower.

Guests of this virtual cooking show were encouraged to submit photos of the dishes that they cooked alongside KES Alumni Chefs, Dev and Adam.  Those who submitted photos were put into a draw for some special swag.  The winner of a Chef Dev apron was Lori Kennedy (Current Parent), and the winner of the Chef Adam hat was Margaret Hache (Alumni Parent).

Please join us in January for our next virtual interactive event- KICK START YOUR HEALTH & FITNESS! This post holiday workout will be led by one of KES’s very own health and wellness gurus. More details to follow! REGISTER HERE.
