KES Senior Girls’ Soccer Defeat Parkview In Final Western Region League Match
Last Saturday, on Jakeman Field, our Senior Girls’ Soccer team completed their regular season by defeating Parkview Education Centre 7-0, to finish with 4 wins, 1 tie and a loss for 13 points, and 2nd place overall. Jill Griffith and Lily Gale both scored twice, while Allie Martin, Rendi Ashley and Hannah Bryant added single goals. Lennon Rutledge and Maya Faucher shared the shutout.

KES dominated the play early and set the tone for the game’s rhythm and tempo with crisp ball movement, timely and creative passing, and generating plenty of scoring chances in the process. Defensively, we were solid and compact and apart from a couple of chances, we kept the Panthers at bay and away from our goalkeepers. Full credit goes to the entire team on a job well done.

Senior Girls Soccer Win Western Region Semi-Final vs Avon View
Tuesday afternoon on a cold Jakeman Field, our KES Senior Girls’ Soccer team scored in the first minute of play and didn’t look back as they knocked off home-town rival Avon View High School, 7-1, in the semi-final game of the Western Region D1 Girls Soccer Playoffs. Grade 12 Captain Allie Martin led the KES attack as she opened the team’s scoring and added 3 more for a 4-goal game. Lily Gale, Reegan Wagg, and Fiona MacDonald rounded out the scoring. Lennon Rutledge braved the cold temperatures and played in goal for KES. While Lennon was not tested with a great deal of action, full credit goes to her for maintaining strong mental focus and excellent ball distribution with her feet and hands. Lennon initiated a number of high-quality attacks with a great first pass out of defence that really got the KES offence rolling.

The KES injury list grew a bit longer in the game as Jill Griffith took a hard knock to the thigh and came out of the match early to join fellow Grade 11 teammates Neila MacDonald and Maya Faucher on the sidelines. Lucy Goddard, Carolina Herrera and Danica Scully stepped right in, stepped right up, and admirably played major minutes to keep our game tempo and rhythm quality highly effective. We expect our injured trio to be back on the field and ready for the Western Region final. Well done to the team for a very solid effort!

We now travel to play Horton High School, the #1 ranked team in the region, on Saturday, October 31st, for the Western Region banner.
