Our Outstanding Debaters

Congratulations to William Larder (Grade 7) and Alex Graham (Grade 8) who attended the (online) Nova Scotia Provincial Impromptu Debates in October and qualified to attend the British Parliamentary National Debates hosted by Alberta Speech and Debate in November (also virtual). Similarly, Danica Scully (Grade 9) and Vincent Armstrong (Grade 8) also qualified for Nationals and finished first in the junior division in a 3-0 judge’s decision grand finale debate against Fountain Academy. Congratulations all junior debaters!

Our senior team of Grace Gallant and Thane Morgan also represented KES well in the senior division with a 4th place team finish and also a qualification to attend British Parliamentary Nationals as well as CSDF Senior Nationals later this school year. Congratulations KES Seniors!

Also, this past weekend Grace Gallant (Grade 12), Thane Morgan (Grade 11) and William Ahern (Grade 11)  represented us at our most comprehensive and challenging event of the season; the International Independent Schools Public Speaking Competition hosted by Mulgrave School in Vancouver. In consolation for not traveling across the country, we retreated to White Point on the South Shore so the team could be (safely) together for the synchronous events. Once again, these 3-star speakers represented us well.

Please CLICK HERE to view their individual events (prepared speeches and interpretive readings) recorded in advance of the event.
Pictures of our debaters; including some surf shots from this last weekend are all attached.

Congratulations again, and we look forward to providing more updates in the upcoming weeks.
