Junior School Opening Success

We’re off to a great start in the Junior School!  It is amazing how readily the students have adapted to the new COVID-19 protocols and how smoothly the first few days of the term have gone.  After six months away from campus, it was a true homecoming for our returning students and a warm welcoming environment for those new to our community.  Everyone cleared the arrival wellness checks in impressive time and, with social distancing in mind, gathered in our large double gymnasium space for our first Junior School assembly.  Students had an opportunity to meet Headmaster Seagram, the Junior School faculty, and their personal advisors before heading off to a few classes.  I understand that some students even got a little prep!  Relaxing outside in our tented Quad area provided a perfect place to sit and chat at picnic tables or enjoy a swing with a new friend on our campus swing sets at break and lunch.  The day ended on Menzies Field where students and teachers played get-to-know-you social distancing games. It was amazing how quickly a sense of community was established.  With temperatures hitting 30 degrees, a round of popsicles was the perfect treat to beat the heat and end a terrific first day.  The early buses were filled, and day students were on their way home by 3:30 pm.  From the sparkle in their eyes, I knew there were bright smiles hidden behind their masks.
