(Spence) Ross, Audrey Grace`
Passed away September 22, 2019
Age 83, Windsor, born in Ellershouse, July 20, 1936, passed away on September 22, 2019, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Audrey was predeceased by her parents, Aubrey Fraser and Althea Mary (Cochrane) Spence; son, Timothy Lee Ross; brother-in-law, Roger Mosher. She is survived by sons, Danny, Windsor; Tony (Krista), Falmouth; daughter-in-law, Holly Ross, Falmouth; grandsons, Brandyn, Cameron Logan, Sam and Ben Ross; great-grandson, Hayden Ross; sister, Marion Mosher, Windsor; brothers, Laurie (Elaine) Spence, Ellershouse; Nathaniel (Brenda) Spence, Ellershouse; and several treasured nieces and nephews. Audrey was a Registered Nurse, a caregiver in every sense of the word; she was always a Nurse, from the day she graduated in 1957 from Payzant Memorial Hospital, Windsor, until she retired. Family was a given in Audrey's world, she remained closely tied to her parents and intertwined with her siblings and their families. She was an avid card player, often driving herself and friends to games all over the county. She began to bowl again in recent years and enjoyed her highest score ever only weeks before her surgery last winter. Audrey's connection to Hants Community Hospital lasted beyond her formal working years. She was part of the Hospital Auxiliary, where she volunteered in the gift shop and delivering Meals-On-Wheels. She was a member of Windsor United Church and participated in the Seniors lunch program. Audrey was a sports fan through and through, she loved her Blue Jays and Red Sox, tennis, curling and hockey were probably her favorites. She spent countless hours at ballfields and rinks during both her children and grandchildren's years growing up. Audrey fought hard for eight months trying to recover and during the months in hospital the staff treated her as one of their own; which she was. We would like to extend our thanks to all those who provided care to Audrey in her final days, this includes friends and family. Visitation will be held at 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, September 25th, in Lindsay Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King St., P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0. Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 26th, in Windsor United Church. Rev. Bill Gibson is officiating. Interment in Maplewood Cemetery 1186 King St., Windsor.
