Senior Night at KES

Senior Night brought out a nice crowd of family, and supporters to see Briar MacDonald, Julia Strickey and Savannah Provo play their last Home Court High School Basketball Games in Nova Scotia. The girls had some time off for school work and to recoverfrom a long season of travelling, but they were ready to play from the time they arrived at school that day!

Aaliyah Arab-Smith lead the team to a 29-14 lead afterthe 1st Quarter. Briar MacDonald continued her sharp shooting ways, with a pair of 3 pointers from long range. The whole team was alive, as Savannah Provo had 6, Heavyn Beals 5, and Claire Englehutt 4 in the opening stanza. The team kept up their play, especially on the defensive end, where the Jr Axewomen had trouble with KES' hieght and length, which took us into halftime with KES up 44 - 30.

After a short halftime ceremony where Coach Ffrench presented the three seniors with flowers and thanked them each for their contribution to the programme, the team came back for the second half a little flat. The Junior Axewomen lived upto their reputation of never quitting, and narrowed the gap to 10 points by end of the third quarter, 65-55. Then the girls had to pay attention, as by the middle of the 4th quarter the gamewas a 5 point spread, and had become a battle. KES was able to hold the lead on their home court, and win on Senior Night 83 - 79.

We wish Briar, Julia and Savannah the best of luck in university and hopefully they will always be able to look back on their year with KES Prep basketball as a special and fun time.

The KES Prep season ends with a trip to Niagara and London Ontario at the end of March Break.
