The first few projects in our Grade 10 Art class were practicing drawing skills such as shading and learning the proportions of the face. The next major studio project was working on a larger format with acrylic paint on stretched canvas. The painting project was inspired by the post-impressionist artists as they investigated colour, light and brushstrokes. The class started with an under painting of a colour on their canvases and then they started sketching. A few students experimented with a palette knife to achieve more texture on the surface of the canvas. Excellent work! They should very pleased with their results.
