It’s that time of year again when Biathlon ramps up the dryland training and scrapes off the travel wax in anticipation of skiing. In preparation for the season, our cadets participated in the Zones competition in Shearwater: a run and shoot using air rifles. We entered three teams and an individual this year. While three kilometers and shooting prone over ten meters may not seem like a lot, there is, never-the-less, a lot that goes into the first competition. The biggest part by far is the psychological aspect to competing: performing out of one’s comfort zone and accepting the pressure in the field of play. This is where the dynamic qualities of “Be More” at school and sport come together. We as coaches watched our determined athletes calmly kill the competition! The results are in, and because our athletes were well prepared, they earned Golds and Silvers as teams and individuals. We are going to Provincials!
