Overtime in First Game for Prep Girls Basketball

The Prep Girls Basketball Team travelled to Charlottetown PEI to play their first game in programme history. Holland College Women's Basketball team, a perpetual Nationally ranked CCAA (Yes, College!) programme welcomed the KES Prep Girls for an exhibition game. The college players jumped out to a 21 point lead, with 8 minutes remaing in the 2nd Quarter, before the KES girls settled in and started to dig their way out of the massive hole. By halftime, KES had cut the lead to 12. The girls kept up the great teamwork on offence and locked the Hurricanes down on defence in the third quarter, leading to KES taking the lead 54-53 at the end of the third stanza. An exciting 4th quarter ensued, with the lead changing hands several times. KES had a glorious chance to win the game, as they had the ball with 6 seconds left, and unfortunately couldn't execute an out of bounds play to seal the win. The game went to Overtime tied at 72. Holland College was able to pull away in the extra period, and squeezed out an 8 point win over KES, 87-79. What a great way to start this high level programme at KES, and we look forward to more great games from this exciting group of student-athletes.
