Our Baseball Team Came out Swinging

Our Highlander baseball team had a very productive trip to Connecticut. The boys came out swinging during the game against Marianapolis College Prep, and we had solid pitching performances by Mitch Brown ‘23, Connor Watt ‘25 and Maverick Murray ‘26 as we went on to win 12-2. During the game, Nichols College was scouting Mitch Brown who had a stellar performance throwing 81 to 82 mph consistently and topping out at 83 mph. This could be a huge opportunity for Mitch for next year.

On Saturday, we played a solid Woodstock Academy team, and had plenty of opportunities to take the lead during both games, but we could not capitalize. We ended up losing 9-5 in the first game and 6-2 in the second.

I’m very happy with this year’s squad as there is a great vibe and a drive to learn. These boys also understand they need to trust the process as we will be rewarded at the end. The purpose of our fall season is to help provide direction during our off-season training on the technical side as well as give us an idea as to what the puzzle is going to look like for the spring. Finally, during these trips, we always make the most of the opportunity to visit schools and educate our students about potential opportunities after they graduate.

We visited Nichols College and spent some time with alumnus, Eric Fields ’22. We also received a tour of the campus and insight into what Nichols has to offer academically and athletically.
