Celebrating our Cultural Differences

This year, prefects Jennifer Liang ‘22 and Juntaro Hattori ‘22 organized all of the activities for our International Committee. They were excellent leaders who planned excursions, dinners, and this year’s Cultural Fair.
We were finally able to have our Cultural Fair which included the international food fair and a variety show in the afternoon on May 25. We enjoyed delicacies from Japan, Korea, Germany, Nigeria, China, Taiwan, Indonesia, and Barbados during lunch. In the afternoon, all students and staff gathered in our Fountain Performing Arts Centre to watch enlightening performances; everything from songs in Spanish, Chinese, Ukrainian, English, and German to name a few. A fun feature which everyone enjoyed were the dance displays by Lillian Sidorchuk '23, Laura Oulton '27, Adaoma Ukaegbu '23, Kammy Ukaegbu '22, Tony Ojinere '24, Henry Ojinere ‘22, Romano Senior-Smith '22, Josiah Dosunmu '24, Evey Kennedy '23 and Lennon Rutledge '23, as well as the German dancers and our very own KES dance team. Yuta Takahashi ‘24 gave a demonstration on Japanese Shuji and Sean Hurley ‘23 played the bagpipes.
This special day is a wonderful way to bring everyone together to gain an appreciation for all the cultures, languages and talents we have as a School community. Thank you to Lucas Martin ‘24 and Qiaoman Tracey ’23 for managing sound and lights; Freek Schep '22, Sebastian Feng '23, and Harrison Kim ‘23 for helping as stage crew; Jennifer Liang and Jason Hu '22 for being the masters of ceremony; Mr. Jeff Smith, Ms. Toven MacLean, and Ms. Stephanie Cummings for organization and set-up; and Jennifer and Juntaro for organizing everything. Great work everyone!
