NAPHA Showcase Success

When you are 233 years old like King’s-Edgehill School, there are not many “firsts” left to accomplish. I can’t tell you how proud we are of the girls for becoming the first KES team in the history of the girls prep programme to have a perfect 4-0 NAPHA Showcase weekend. They will always own that distinction.
The girls were warriors all weekend. From a physical battle with our rivals, Mount U-18 to open the weekend to the focus and poise displayed in an intense game against Rothesay Netherwood in front of a hostile and vocal crowd, they played exceptionally well but, more importantly, supported each other as a team every step of the way.
Led by the outstanding goal tending of Sophie Thomas ‘22 and Sophie Thimot ‘24, our team only allowed four goals against all weekend. We opened play with a solid 3-0 victory over Mount Academy U-18 Saints on Friday, and we followed that win with exciting victories over rivals Stanstead College and Rothesay Netherwood on Saturday. We finished the weekend with a 5-2 victory over Mount Academy U-17 on Sunday. Special congratulations to defenceman Jada MacKinnon ‘23 who scored her first KES goal in the 2-1 win over RNS on Saturday.
Our team improves to 7-1-1 in NAPHA League play and will be back in action on December 4 and 5 with a pair of exhibition games in PEI against their two female AAA U-18 teams.
