Snow, John

Passed away on October 9, 2020.
John was the proud former owner of J.A. Snow Funeral Home, a family business for four generations of Snows. “Snowy” lived life to its fullest and had a large circle of friends with whom over the years he enjoyed many sailing adventures, curling bonspiels, countless shared meals where he would always greet you with a smile & “what can I get for you”? Anyone who was fortunate to spend time with John was familiar with his generosity; it could have been anything from an offer of his famous eggs benny to a trip on the sailboat. “Big John” would do anything for Judy and Nancy to make them happy & asked for nothing in return (except for his morning coffee over a game of backgammon, which he never missed a day since being married to Judy). “Johnny” was a long time member of RNSYS and St. Margaret’s Bay Sailing Club. His passion for sailing began at a young age & he was his happiest on the ocean. He was also an active curler at the Halifax Curling Club for many years and enjoyed golfing at Ashburn with “The Gaspers”. John is son of the late John & Irene Snow.

He is survived by his wife Judy, daughter Nancy Snow (Andrew Stenhouse), stepson Craig Connolly, sister Sheila Snow, granddaughter Lilly Stenhouse. He was predeceased by sister Sherrill Snow. Thank you to Dr. Trager and the exceptionally kind and compassionate medical team and staff on V3East that helped make him comfortable in his last days.

The family will receive visitors at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 from 2-8pm. A private service has taken place. Donations in John’s memory may be made to Diabetes Canada.
