(Greenough) Aucoin, MaryAnn

Passed away December 7, 2019.
Aucoin (Greenough), MaryAnn, age 59, of Dartmouth

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of MaryAnn who lost her courageous 2 ½ year battle with cancer peacefully, at home, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday December 7th, 2019.

MaryAnn was a natural caregiver who touched many lives throughout her career as an RN, nursing instructor, and acting as a mentor to many others. Her caring and loving nature extended well beyond her family and friends and into community through her passion to increase awareness and wellbeing for the homeless and her many years volunteering with MADD Canada. Of the many things MaryAnn did well, being a mother was the one accomplishment of which she was most proud.

MaryAnn is survived by her husband Amédée ; son Adam (fiancé Melissa); daughter Danielle; mother Georgina Greenough; brothers, Ed (Kim) and Martin (Christena); sister Margaret (Alan); as well as her many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was predeceased by her father Ralph.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Friday December 13th in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth. The memorial Mass will take place at 10am on Saturday December 14th in St Thomas More Parish, 15 Caledonia Drive with a reception to follow. Private interment in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, MaryAnn’s wish was for people to continue her work in the community by taking the time to buy someone in need a meal, and listen to their story, volunteer at a shelter or kitchen and/or donate to Feed NS; but most importantly : “Be Kind”

MaryAnn and family would like to thank the VON and the Palliative Care Team, specifically Maureen Downs and Barbara Stewart for their continued support and care over the past several months.
