In keeping with the historic heritage of King's-Edgehill School, Convocation Hall, built circa 1860, is renowned as Canada's first library museum building. When recently restored in 1992, the Honourable A. Gordon Cooper Library, housed in Convocation Hall, won the Heritage Trust Building Award in Nova Scotia for conserving its exquisite gothic architectural features. This grand stone edifice accommodates eighty foot oak cathedral ceilings, spiral iron staircases, carved plaster corbels and a small stage for public speaking and debating competitions. Within this elegant setting, students are furnished with all the tools of learning, access to the latest computer technology and to the more traditional fare comprising a rich collection of some 14,000 books.

Not only functioning as an information resource centre, the library provides a gathering place for many varied events such as junior computer clubs, debating competitions, poetry readings, Literary Art Journal meetings and architectural studies for the fine arts programme as well as the writing of SAT and International Baccalaureate examinations. In the summer the facility is also available for conventions, elder hostel historical tours, ESL summer school programmes and conferences.
