On the side of Illness Prevention, we cooperate with Nova Scotia Public Health Services in their Immunization Programmes.  During October and November, Influenza Vaccines will be administered.  Day students who fall into the “at risk” category as defined by Public Health Services, may receive this vaccine.  Please read and complete the enclosed consent form.  If your child should not receive this vaccine, please let us know. For the boarding population, we prefer to have the returned consent but, if we have not heard from you, we will assume consent and proceed with the influenza vaccination.  Dr. Kazimirski, ourselves and NS Public Health Services, recognize the boarding population as that of one “at risk” and, therefore, highly recommend having your son or daughter vaccinated for influenza due to the nature of the close boarding community and diverse population.  After the Christmas Break, the Tetanus Diptheria and Pertussis (Adacel) Vaccine as well as a meningitis vaccine (Menjugate), will be administered to those students who are in Grade Ten and who have received their primary series of Td-P.  The consents for these vaccines will be sent to you at a later date.
