Sportsmanship

Our rugby team will represent KES in a respectful and professional manner. We will respect ourselves, our school, our sport, and our opponents by:

  • demanding the best from ourselves;
  • respecting school rules and traditions;
  • understanding and obeying the Laws of Rugby;
  • using superior strength, speed, skill, and decision-making to decide the outcome of games.

No player, including a captain, will be permitted to speak with the opponent during a match. “Trash talk” is a violation of the Laws of the Game and only serves to motivate our opponents, while distracting us from our team’s objectives.

After the match, our team will applaud the efforts of our competitors; form the traditional tunnel; and congratulate each player and coach. In addition, our captains will thank the referee for his or her efforts.

The singing of the KES Rugby Song will be left to the discretion of the Captains and senior players and should occur after the traditional tunnel is completed.

Team Spirit

"The synergy effect is paramount. But for the whole to become greater than the sum of its parts, everything has to come together in a common understanding of what it takes to win the game."
  - Kevin Bowring

"One man practicing sportsmanship is better than a hundred teaching it."
 - Knute Rockney
