Raising potential

"Fatigue makes cowards of us all."

- Vince Lombardi

Fitness

Having superior aerobic and anaerobic fitness is crucial in rugby. It allows our players to be first to the ball, to make more tackles, and to dominate play in the late stages of the match.

Fatigue is the source of most confusion on the pitch. Being the fittest team on the pitch will allow us to react better to potentially chaotic situations.

Individual fitness will be a primary determinate for player selection. The fifteen fittest players will dress for each league game. Your fitness will be evaluated monthly in school wide testing sessions. The tests will evaluate:
  • aerobic fitness
  • anaerobic fitness
  • core strength
  • leg strength
  • upper body strength (includes strong fingers, hands, wrists and forearms)
  • acceleration / change of speed / agility/ footwork

It is up to each player to push himself in independent training sessions so he is ready to peak physically for a short rugby season.
